Coke syrup is often readily available at drug stores- it’s an old-fashioned remedy to settle a nauseated stomach. If it’s not on the shelf, just ask the pharmacist, because he might be keeping it in back because it’s not something that’s often requested, so might as well provide the shelf space for something more likely to generate income- but every time I’ve asked, it has been available with minimal trouble. Must be better than Soda Club syrup, and far more readily available.

Soda Club syrup is disgusting. You should try it with real Coke syrup next time.

Great post, Steven! As the writer of the original Jcarrot “fry-fest” post, I salute your as a comrade in (high cholesterol) arms.

I thought about using the Soda-club syrup, but instead opted for a small bottle of cola syrup that they sell at most pharmacies. Like you, I also thought it came out great (nice picture, by the way), and, like you, my fellow gourmands were not as enthusiastic.

By the way – Fried Oreos really are fantastic – worthy a try, imo.
