Beacon Kosher purchased by Butcherie owner
Max Gellerman, owner of The Butcherie, has purchased Beacon Kosher, Brookline’s cramped, gritty, and only fully-glatt market. Beacon Kosher, which has been on shaky footing since the untimely passing of its owner, will remain under the glatt supervision of Rabbi Moskowitz when it reopens after a brief repurposing over the next few weeks.

Monopolies are never good. I hope this works out.
Owning more than one kosher establishment in an area with many kosher restaurants and groceries is a monopoly?
Are there many kosher groceries now there? When I lived in Brookline/Newton in the late 90s, those were the only two options.
Those are the only two retail shops in Brookline. Newton, of course, has Gordon & Alperin, which is only a short drive.
Thanks, jab. I think these two stores (BK and TB) are far enough apart that they can cater to different clientele and succeed.
Does anyone know if the BK location will remain glatt?
Oops, misread that. Sorry. I thought the original post said it “may remain”. Please disregard. Sorry.
Ah whoops. I don’t know why I thought Brookline had a ton of kosher establishments. Two is twice as many as my city, though!
