I’m sure you’re both right. I always roll my eyes when bloggers take themselves too seriously, that they’re not looked at as “real” journalists… just looking for common courtesy.

I bet the “Arab street” gets annoyed about this stuff, too :)

Yeah, I think she had a deadline and didn’t think that anyone would check up on her sources. Kind of makes you skeptical about all those “the blogs are abuzz” claims that you see in print.

My hunch, j, is that she just typed in “Shalom Beijing” in Google and this site is the first link that comes up. She glanced around and voila.

Though a couple personal blogs have made interesting comments on the news, the only “kosher-centric” blog that’s nattered about Shalom Beijing has been this one. I’m not so interested in personal attention, but it wouldn’t have been hard for Ms. Arnett to get a hold of me, either for original comment, or to ask that my writing be quoted for the article. Seems like a case of the print media having little respect for blogs, in that our copyright statements and our time and effort aren’t important enough for a newspaper to make a quick phone call or shoot off an e-mail.
