Kosher Travel: More “Caveat Emptor”
While we’re on a “buyer beware” streak, here’s a blog with details of what pretty clearly looks like a fishy kosher travel package, Ahavath Torah Institute’s Jewish Heritage Tours.

I have no doubt that the person who published that blog had a bad experience, and is likely, justified in his disappointment. I just wanted to mention that we attended this program (same hotel and tour operator) over the summer and had a wonderful time. We thought the facilities were great and the food was above average- not spectacular, but pretty good nonetheless. We thought the staff was hard working and provided, for the most part, excellent service. I have not met the Rabbi mentioned in the blog- he was leading a different tour in Europe…. what we experienced was in no way a scam. Thanks!
In many instanes, one person can have a bad experience, indeed, maybe the whole chanukah at the hotel went bad. However, my own experiences went quite well at the hotel. I was there at a Passover and loved it. while it is no Pesach with the chevra, it is also a fraction of the price (a half or a third) and generally attracts a nice crowd (I see that wasnt the case over this past chanuka). As for the this posting, true or not, the personal attacks on the Rabbi, and the spite with which it is written dont warrant a link on kosher blog. Further, if you are going to make personal attacks on someone why dont you sign your own name?

We were very disappointed by JHT’s program over the Chanukah holiday. The food was, indeed, of poor quality, the waiters walked out, the police raided the place on Shabbos and we were not given any Chanukah Menorahs. There was poor planning involved overall. No Baal Koreh and no shiurim for the women. We all felt we had been ripped off. DON’T do business with this guy. Beware!
Well, the blog seems to have disappeared.
Very interesting…
This tours are considered special, not only due to our excellent itineraries and first-rate lectures, but because we offer truly Glatt-Kosher gourmet meals, first-class hotel accommodations and, most important, the personal touch by all our staff.
