Rubashkin Salami falls short

A good salami should have a little zest to its flavor and some spring to its texture. Rubashkin’s 12-ounce all-beef salami has neither. The texture is mushy and the flavor is mediocre. Choose Abeles & Heymann’s salami or cervelat instead for a much better experience.

They make the best stuff around. I love their hotdogs the most.
The best salami is Romanian of Chicago. Hard to get, generally requires FedExing and a friend who lives in chicago, but really this is the best kosher salami out there. I’ve never had better salami in my life. People I know who eat treif say it’s really outstanding, too.
Rubashkin is really crap. Ever read the info on the package? the classic says “Mechanically deboned chickem”. THis is really chicken bones that they too a piece of sandpaper to to remove the calcium.
Meal mart has the next worse stuff. I would rather be a veggie. International has a little quality, but turns green after 2 days. Abeles and heyman, when lee heyman was alive was good, but International has been making the stuff over the last 3 years and the quality is not as good.
Who is left? 999 is still in business. THey left manhatten and are in newark. You have to look for their stuff, but it might be worth it

I disagree, I have had the Romanian salami and I still like the Abeles and Heymann brand better. As far as the quality of the product, I have been eating the hot dogs and cervelat for over 10 years and I have not noticed any change in quality. In fact, I noticed that the product is more consistent and their packaging has improved. I do agree with your comments about the other brands. The thought of “Mechanically deboned Chicken” scares me.
I think its obviously a personal taste! I found this site looking for Rubashkin’s site search. My cousin Dovid , was online at the time and we were IM-ing (instant messenger),and discussing fried salami and eggs and salami sandwiches - I Def. Like Rubashkins Salami- the long ones- Dry it for a awhile till a little wrinkled and YUMM!! Like Steak Salami. By the way i dont work for them - i am a Yiddle in Arkansas, that escaped from crowded cities! Hey Common, the ,Baal Shem Tov, also liked the outdoors and Dovened,Sang and Danced in the forest. Best Wishes, Avrum , Yellvile, AR.
i stil think rubashkins beef salami is the best like to know where can i find it in houston tx
well i work for rubashkin miami and they have the best salami around
I think people like bashing Rubashkin, but the fact is their salami is great! Try their smoked turkey legs, they’re amazing.
I love the A&H cervelat wurst (the best available since Bloch and Falk closed many years ago) but must agree that Romanian is the best “classic” salami.
Can Anyone give me a retailer for A&H in the Bronx or Sourounding NYC NJ area. I’m lost since Bloch & Falk Closed years ago.
Thank you,
Lenny
Not sure where you are, but it is carried in various supermarkets in NYC/NJ area including the Shop Rite’s with “Kosher Experience” in NJ and if you are in the Bronx, Stop & Shop on the Post Road in Larchmont carries some of their products.
Abeles and Heymann liverwurst can be purchased at Zabars in Manhattan. They always have it, also the kishka. If you want to make sure, call first.
I just came across New Roc Glatt, a new place in New Rochelle. (77 Quaker Ridge Road). From the pictures in the “virtual tour” on their website, they appear to have a large selection of A&H products.
