The website aspartame.org is nothing more than a front for the aspartame industry promoting aspartame’s so called safety. The website is owned by the Calorie Central Coucil. Here are the other details you will find very disturbing:

* A person using the name of MEAGANUGA works for the Calorie Central Council, which is “an international association of manufacturers of low-calorie and reduced-fat foods and beverages. She has posted many pro-aspartame messages on message boards. * See below for link.

* The Calorie Central Council has approximately 60 members, including the manufacturers of alternative sweeteners, fat replacers and low-calorie bulking agents.

* The CCC runs aspartame.org.

Okay, you can say what you want about diet drinks but I find that the new diet coke with splenda is the best on the market right now. I have tried diet pepsi, tab, etc. They all have an after taste. I also think coke zero just doesn’t compare to diet coke w/splenda. Coke w/Splenda taste like the old fashion Coca Cola. I love it. I’m a diabetic and can’t handle the aspartame, so this is the drink for me. One can in the morning and it gives me the boost I need for the day.

Meagan’s post was from a host in the “kcocommitmenttoexcellence.com” domain, owned by that same Kellen Company
A Google search on the name “meaganUGA” shows that she has posted on a few other sites about this same issue, each time not disclosing her relationship to this council.

I’ve even tried Coke Zero — not sure exactly how it differs from Diet Coke or Diet Coke/Splenda, tastes pretty similar. It’s forty cents cheaper at CVS, so that’s nice.

Meagan… not sure why you’re bringing up the safety of aspartame here, but I’ve never worried about the health effects of aspartame or saccharin. In fact, that reminds me of a good strategy I learned while on the Atkins diet a few years ago. Rather than use all one type of artificial sweetener in a beverage or recipe, use combinations of sweeteners for a more natural, consistently sweet taste. When I buy iced coffee, I’ll often use a packet or two of Equal and a packet or two of Sweet & Low or Splenda.

That’s probably why I like Tab so much … that effective combo of Nutrasweet and saccharin.

I haven’t tried the new Diet Coke with Splenda yet I’ve heard it tastes a lot like Tab. No matter what my opinion is, I’m not likely to make the switch from traditional Diet Coke. I like the way that aspartame makes my diet sodas taste sweet but not too syrupy. I’ve done the research and I think aspartame is safe-based on all the studies that have been done. Splenda / Sucralose is lousy, in my opinion; flat and icky-tasting. I greatly prefer Aspartame. I’ll stick to my Diet Pepsi, thank you.

I saw that blue cap, and it really pissed me off. I kinda want to taste it, but dont mess with my silver cap. It’s part of the dining experience.
