Any suggestions on where to buy a large quantity of quality lox in the Boston area? (I noticed Trader Joe’s offers a 16 oz. pack for $10, but maybe the wholesale outlets like BJ’s or Costco have cheaper mega-packs.)

Costco has at least two options (both Kosher - star K, if i recall) .. don’t recall the pricing, but it is cheaper than any grocery store.

BJs sells a whole side of smoked salmon, I can’t remember exactly how much it was but very good value. It makes a fabulous pasta sauce with mascarpone!
As a bit of follow up, when I visited BJ’s in Medford, I did notice their whole sides of salmon, but they featured a heksher that our rabbi does not find acceptable. I ended up buying several smaller packs of salmon at a reasonable price, and arranging the salmon decoratively on a large platter garnished with fresh dill and lemon slices.
The Costco in Walthan had three varieties of smoked salmon last time I was there (a couple of weeks ago), including a not farm raised (”free range” comes to mind, but I think that’s for animals with legs, not fish) option.
We have been buying our smoked salmon at Costco for years. It is very good, and ranges from $8 - $15/lb.

Here in the great Pacific Northwest, we have WILD salmon and a processing plant. They want to make kosher lox. We have a consistent hiqh quality source of salmon, a clean and well inspected processing plant and zero knowledge of how to begin.
This is in the NW part of Washington State. Any advice including not to do it would be appreciated.
