ShalomBoston.com Recipe File

I put a link up to ShalomBoston.com’s recipe section several weeks ago, but I think it deserves more attention. The staff at ShalomBoston test every recipe that goes on their site, and recipes range from traditional (Chicken Soup, Taiglach, Hamantaschen) to modern (Mango Salsa, Butternut Squash and Apple Soup). They even have several recipes from popular local baker Judy Rosenberg of Rosie’s Bakery.

I can vouch from personal experience that everything posted on ShalomBoston is sure to be delicious. The site’s run by some fabulous cooks!

Boschetto’s LaRonga is NOT a strictly kosher establishment. It is a Portugese bakery that sells very treif items like pepporoni pizza and other pork filled pastries. They DO make kosher bread under the KVH that is packaged and sold frozen. Unless you buy the frozen break that is labeled with KVH, it is NOT kosher. Be careful.

Zeppy’s is under the “grandfathered” Vaad standards, which means kosher ingredients, but no supervision. To the best of my knowledge, R. Halbfinger, does not allow this into his shul and doesn’t reccomend it. Check with him or your LOR. Also, I’m pretty sure that NO Orthodox rabbi in Boston trusts the kashrut of any kosher bakery in MA that is not in Brookline/Brighton or Newton with the exception of the kosher Stop and Shop bakery locations.
