UTJ Kashrut Blog
Noticed on Protocols that a new blog has entered the Kosher Blogosphere — The Kosher Nexus. It’s run by the Union for Traditional Judaism, the right-of-Conservative splinter group which broke off from the United Synagogue in the 1980s, and has since positioned itself as a “transdenominational” Halakhic group (FAQ).
The blog lends its name from the UTJ’s quarterly newsletter, but will feature more timely Kashrut information than a quarterly publication can naturally provide. Both the blog and the newlstter have some interesting commentary and news. (I find the layout/design a bit difficult to read, but I have word from the Nexus’s administrator that he appreciates any frank criticism to improve the blog.) Check it out.
Thanks for the mention. We do not consider the Kosher Nexus blog to be merely a "rework" of our publication of the same name; we think of it as utilizing new technology to get kashrut information out in an interesting and timely manner. While some things on the blog may turn up in the publication, some will not and vice versa. Also, I would not say that the Kosher Nexus is "occasionally published." It comes out regularly, four times a year (and is available on line at the UTJ website — http://www.utj.org). We’ll work on the layout. Thanks for the constuctive criticism. BTW, we enjoy your blog a lot.
Sandy– duly noted, I’ll reflect your comments in the posting. I apologize if I came off as "harsh"… it’s hard to accurately reflect true verbal demeanor over the Internet. In reality, I’m quite excited that there’s a growing contingency of blogs devoted to Kosher living, and I look forward to being a regular reader of yours!
