I tried the Chipotle cheddar. I agree that its rather crumbly and didnt like that too much, though the flavor was unusual and quite good. Is this crumbly consistency a desireable feature in good cheese? I never heard of it.

Sugar River Cheese is available at many Whole Foods Markets in the DC area, specifically Georgetown, Tenleytown and Bethesda (on River Road). I really liked the two different kinds of cheddars, has a different taste to most of the bland kosher cheddars currently on the market.

I've tried the white cheddar with the roasted garlic and green onion, and also the monterey jack with garlic and basil. Both were wonderful, very flavorful and nice to just nibble away at. I'll be trying out more varieties over time. Very fresh testing.

I have tasted both the cheddar and the jack wiht chives and both were very good. They were slightly clumbly, with a good balance of moisture. The flavorings were also well balanced. A good thing to pick up when you're in NY.

I just bought the monterey jack with roasted garlic and basil. It is a bit crumbly and very tasty with plain, crusty bread.
